Used Car Buying Tips

When thinking about buying a Used Car, its important to stay within your budget and to chose the right vehicle. If your about to spend some serious cash, then its always best to have a plan of how much your willing to spend. Also what you need the vehicle for i.e, a good runner to get you to work, or something big enough to fit the kids in for weekends away. Which ever the case is there is many online classifieds to chose from, but the plan is to buy the proverbial 'good runner'. And this can sometimes be a hard task, but not impossible! The key is do not let your heart rule your head, if a price looks to good for the year, make and model...then it probably is. It's important to check the vehicle as much as you can, the more information you have about any vehicle the better. Follow the list below for a guide:

Ask Questions.

Are you the owner of the vehicle?
How long have you owned it?
Whats the vehicle mileage?
What major work have you had done on the vehicle?
Do you have the receipts?
Did you buy the vehicle from new?
Has the vehicle ever been wrecked, had a body repair or re-spray?
Are you a licensed vehicle dealer?
Now you have done this, and if you are still interested in the Used Car 'dig a little deeper' and check the vehicle over.

Check

The radio and Heater work.
Windscreen wipers.
Lights make sure they work, and have no damage to them.
Check the brakes-make sure there is enough fluid, and there is no pulling when pressed.
Check the tires-look for good tread and matching sizes.
Check under the bonnet-check battery for leaks.
Check oil for dirt.
Any problems found if not too big, and your OK with them, can always be used to bring the price down and get yourself a better deal. If your not happy with the out-come of these checks, then look for something else. But its always best to check the Used Car first, and save yourself time, trouble and cash if you buy bad. Following this guide will not in itself guarantee the perfect Used Car to buy, but add a common sense approach and sticking to your budget will increase the chance of getting yourself a great deal.
